The tastiest Dutch doughnut balls are deep-fried in Levo oil

For the second year in a row, the Dutch Bakery Centre in Wageningen awarded the Dutch doughnut balls from the Boalsert Bakery stall the ‘Gold Label’ in 2019. For 6 months, proprietor Elise Akkerman’s Dutch doughnut balls carried this gold label.

The gold label confirms that Elise’s Dutch doughnut balls meet strict quality requirements and are superior to other products. The inspectors tested Boalsert Bakery’s Dutch doughnut balls on seven aspects. For each aspect, a maximum of five medals could be earned. Dutch doughnut balls with a maximum score of five medals on three aspects and at least four medals on the other four aspects are awarded the ‘Gold Label’.

Akkerman’s cream-filled Dutch doughnut balls got the maximum score on ‘external colour’, ‘eatability’ and ‘flavour’. These fine Dutch doughnut balls are available from her all-new stall near the bus station, which she has called ‘Boalsert Bakery’ in honour of the city of Bolsward.
