Vegatable oil is a general term used for oils commonly applied in cooking. Historically, the name “vegetable oil” (in Dutch: slaolie) originated from the manual pressing (or “slagen”) of oil from nuts and seeds. Essentially, any type of vegetable oil can be labeled as vegetable oil, as long as the packaging clearly states the type of oil in accordance with food regulations. In some cases, salad oil is a blend of various oils, but most commonly it consists of rapeseed oil or soybean oil.
Usage
Vegetable oil can be used for frying, sautéing, and stir-frying, as well as a base for dressings and sauces.
Can you deep-fry with vegetable oil?
It is not recommended to use salad oil for deep-frying. For that purpose, more suitable options include Grenada Gold deep-frying oil and PUUR deep-frying oil, which are specially developed for professional deep-frying applications.
